Three major threats to silos and dust collectors:
  • High Pressure: when blowing materials INTO the silo (filling). Usually pressure above 1.5 PSI can cause damage to the silo.
  • Overfilling: a silo can damage or destroy the silo.
  • Broken Filter Media: can pollute the air and cause a producer to receive citations.
Before addressing the threats, it is important to understand the difference between the warning systems and the protection systems.
  • Warning Systems consists of the SSS™ component(s) linked to an alarm system. An audible and visual alarm can be triggered if one of the three threats are occurring.
  • Protection Systems consists of the SSS™ component(s) linked to a pinch valve, in addition to the alarm system. Once the alarm is triggered, the system can be set to close the pinch valve and stop the flow of materials after a customer-determined period of time. This eliminates the human error factor and provides the ultimate protection for your silo and dust collector.
C and W Silo Saver1 DEALING WITH HIGH PRESSURE

The most prominent piece of the SSS™ is the Patent Pending dual pressure sensor that was created to measure the pressure of the inbound materials. Most pneumatic transfer systems range between 12-18 PSI when transferring material into a silo. Once the air and materials enter the silo, the pressure normally drops to low amounts measuring less than 1 PSI. Because silos are generally made to withstand only low pressure, if high pressure occurs, a producer has only the factory installed relief valve as a safety device. If this fails, disaster awaits.Enter the SSS™ pressure sensor. This pressure sensor has a dual purpose. It can not only set off a warning and protection system, but can also be used to control the pulse board, the fan, and the air compressor for the dust collectors. By controlling the pulse board, the dust collector only cleans when needed, creating a more efficient operation.

The SSS™ can hook up to a bin indicator and create an anti-overfillwarning or protection system.

C and W Silo Saver3 DEALING WITH BROKEN FILTER MEDIA

The broken filter detector component of the SSS™ will monitor the dust level in your dust collector exhaust. The adjustable microwave sensor will detect if excess dust develops and can trigger the warning or protection system to commence.
